Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy

What is Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy?
Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy (IYP) is a unique gelling of the principles and concepts of Yoga Therapy, (a therapeutic approach using specific applications of yogic tools from breath work, meditation, mindful movement and philosophy to address an individual’s physical, mental, energetic and emotional needs) with the extensive principles of the mainstream developing approaches of psychotherapy. IYP is similar to other integrative psychotherapy modalities. It builds upon a foundation of extensive training in counselling/psychotherapy skills, whilst integrating a variety of other modalities for a comprehensive support system.

I am very excited to be exploring this new and exciting approach to supporting an individuals Mental, Physical and Emotional health. Life can bring surprising challenges to us all as we navigate variations of stress, trauma, illness and change, creating feelings of unrest mentally, emotionally, energetically and physically. I have found through my therapeutic work over the years that the blending of movement, breath work, mindfulness, self enquiry and now more recently the skills of psychotherapy, creates far more profound benefits to a person’s healing journey. Recent research now reveals that faster and longer term healing occurs throughout the intelligent integration of mind and body techniques together.
What will a session involve?
Every session is unique to the individual person; the underpinning of Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy is to meet the client where they are – a person centred approach of compassionate enquiry. A session may consist of only a dialogue, an enquiry between us as we work together to reflect and unpick underlying issues; or we can explore some mindful movement or breathing practices to help you to ground, to feel more safe and held giving further space for more to be explored on a deeper level. As well as a listening space I can offer you techniques to help you with a variety of other ongoing symptoms – practices to regulate your emotions and nervous system, to strengthen your physical body and to assist with digestive or sleep issues, to find more rest and self-care as a part of your healing journey.
My intention is to walk beside the client on their self healing journey; instilling a sense of compassionate curiosity for more self discovery and growth shifting to a space of more hope, clarity and the possibility of a better life.
I strive to offer a space for everyone, in all bodies, those more typical and those more diverse. I have experience of working within the neurodiverse community – I find my most valuable learning comes from my clients – open to learning and sharing of all our experiences as we heal together.
